About Us

Heart to Heart of Pensacola, Inc. was conceived as a result of founder Camey Hanks. Camey's inspiration was her son Kevin Ziglar who had a congenital heart defect. Kevin was born with a hole in the aorta valve of his heart. At the age of 16, it was determined that Kevin's aorta valve was leaking and his heart was enlarged. Until this time he had received his treatment in Pensacola, Florida.

Now that he needed more extensive testing and possibly an aorta valve replacement, he had to go to Shands Hospital in Gainesville Florida for treatment. Gainesville is approximately a 7 hour drive from Pensacola.

At this time, Camey was a single mother and the travel expenses became an increasingly difficult burden. "As a mother, this was a devastating experience. Unfortunately, many families go through this experience on a daily basis," says Camey. With the love and support of her family and friends, Camey went on to create Heart to Heart of Pensacola, Inc. to help other families.
